Our Bitter-Sweet Curriculum of Life

This sermon is outlined using four word pictures of Water in a person’s life.

A. No Water: Why did God lead them into the wilderness to a place where for three days there was no water? This pictures the dry periods in our lives, the blah periods when we are not excited anymore, when we don't want to pray.

B. Bitter Water: Represents the real world, hard life, flaws, non-perfection, failure, valleys, unanswered prayer and many times leads to murmuring and complaining. All complaining is ultimately against the Sovereign God who works in the affairs of men. Complaining is a chief sin that produces other sins. Remember Philippians 2:14 Do all things without murmuring and complaining.

C. Sweetened Water: This is a time of healing through prayer. God says I am the Lord who heals you. We learn more about God through our hard times and difficulties. He heals today through doctors and medicine. He forgives our sins. He heals our wounded hearts. In heaven we have ultimate healing. Jesus on the tree gave his life for us to heal us our sins. By his wounds you have been healed.

D. Plenty of Water: Remember that relief was only six miles down the road. Elim is a place of rest and heaven’s rest is the ultimate place where springs of living water are. We are to go through the bitterness, by walking to Christ and His word. He will bring you through all your bitter things of life. We are to advance and keep going through danger. He never takes you into a valley He won’t bring you out of. These times are to make us more and more like our Lord Jesus Christ.

Through All these periods look to Christ who is the answer to all of life's problems and joys.
