Lord's Day 38 Sow in faith–also earthly possessions–and you will reap a rich reward

Sow in faith – also with your earthly possessions – and you will reap a rich reward:

1. God calls us to make decisions in our hearts
2. God encourages us to give generously
3. God promises to bless us richly

Questions to think about during the sermon:
Point 1:

1. Why does the catechism connect ‘schools’ to the 4th commandment (Remember the Sabbath Day ….)?
   What kinds of schools are meant?
2. Does the Bible teach us that if we give 10 percent to the Lord we can keep the rest for ourselves?
3. What does Paul mean when he says that God loves a cheerful giver? Can we ‘earn’ God’s love by giving
   cheerfully?
   Point 2:
4. If we hold a collection, what do we do to promote it? When Paul wants to raise money for the church in
   Jerusalem, what does Paul tell us about that church? Why?
5. According to Paul, what is the best reason to give generously?
   Point 3:
6. If we pay money to the church, is that a good investment? What kind of a reward should we (not) expect?
