Our Pastor joins the Decapolitans in their wonder at the working of Jesus. There is no problem beyond His reach or outside of His scope. The phrase "beyond measure astonished" is an imperfect passive with a compound adverb. The Decapolitans were, literally, HYPER-AMAZED by the power of Jesus while most people today just use His name as a swear word.
