Jesus, High Priest of the New Covenant

All of sinful mankind are in desperate need of a priest as their mediator before the holy God. Jesus as the High Priest of the New Covenant far exceeds the Aaronic priesthood because of his sinless, endless life, and his appointment to his office by the oath of God. Additionally, he ministers in the heavenly, not earthly sanctuary. The new covenant he established accomplished what the Old Covenant could not: the internalization of God's law, intimate personal relationship with God, and the forgiveness of sins.
