The Roman Trial: God Holds Us Responsible to Bow Before The Suffering Messiah

Although God is sovereign, we are all still responsible to bow before the Messiah.
God sends us a revelation of the Messiah (11)
Pilate was able to question Jesus directly
God sends us high-level opposition to the Messiah (12-14, 20-23)
The Jewish leaders unrelentingly demand the execution of Jesus
They repeatedly accuse the Messiah of wrongdoing (12-14)
They incite the multitudes to choose Barabbas for release (15-18)
They demand the death of Christ (22-24)
God sends us warnings concerning rejection of the Messiah (19)
Pilate’s wife tries to warn Pilate not to deal with the judgment of the Messiah
God still holds us responsible for bowing before the Messiah (24-25)
CONCLUSIONS
The suffering Messiah is the King of the Jews.
We should expect “high-level” opposition if we are preaching the Gospel.
The greatest opposition to the truth will be from “within”.
We need to be sensitive to “warnings” that we receive.
Although God works His purposes through ungodly men,
He still holds them accountable for their actions.
