Duty and Delight
67
As the Temple re-building progresses, the people begin to wonder if they ought to keep observing the fasts of lament about the Temple destruction. Zechariah condemns their worship because it was full of religious duty but lacking Godly delight. We are forced to examine our own hearts. How is our worship? For whom do we do our worship? Are we motivated by duty or delight? Zechariah points us to the hope we have in grabbing hold of Jesus to see our hearts transformed.
