Unjust Judges, Our National Sin

Some say America suffers from a lack of "national pride." In reality, America has become arrogant in its folly and shame.

A great national sin of our county is the unjust judges that are spread across the land, particularly those judges who refuse to hear the petitions of the weak, the helpless, and the imprisoned.

Jesus told the parable of the unjust judge who finally heard the petition of the widow because she wearied him. But our judges have become more wicked still, in refusing to hear and judge the petitions of the helpless. They have crafted iniquitous legal doctrines that permit them to dismiss the complaints without a hearing upon the merits of the case.

Last Thursday our own Mississippi State Supreme Court upheld the denial of a speedy trial to an imprisoned man. The Court's opinion is full of legal sophistry and deceit, in order to overturn the clear constitutional Sixth Amendment right the man had. Indeed, he spent almost two years in prison before receiving a trial, because his judge refused to entertain his requests for a speedy trial and for bail.

Many prisoners who have been kidnapped and tortured by our government are unable to proceed in court against their tormentors because of various "exemptions" the court uses to destroy their right to redress. Our government spies illegally upon us all, and is unanswerable in our courts.

Christians ought to be most appalled at such injustice, because our Lord Jesus was subjected to grave injustice at the hands of men. He was acquitted by Pilate, but delivered unto death to satisfy the mob. So too our own nation encourages injustice under the delusion that it will make us safe.
