Reign In Your Emotions

Sermon Point: Reign in your emotions; Christ will avenge evil and build His Kingdom.

Outline:

1. Here are the main characters of our story and the time frame: David and Ishbosheth; Joab, Abner, and Asahel; 2 Sameuel 5:4-5.
2. Joab kills Abner out of jealousy and to avenge his the death of his brother (2 Samuel 3:26-27, 3:17-25, 2:17-23).
3. David declares his innocence and curses Joab (2 Samuel 3:28-30).
4. Almost forty years later, Joab opposes David (1 Kings 1:5-7, 2:5, 2:27-35).
5. To appreciate this story and others like it, remember to take the God's eye view the Bible gives you.
