We must believe God's promises and walk in confindence about the future because of those promises. Most of those who settled colonial America trusted in the God of the Bible to provide a future and a hope for them and for their children. As with ancient Israel in Numbers 13 and 14, so today: people who speak out their unbelief and rebellion against God have a terrible impact on others. To a great degree modern America has lost the basis of confidence in the future.
