Author Victor Hugo said that England has two books: The Bible and Shakespeare. But the people of God have one book, desire one book and live by one book – the Bible. This is what we see in Nehemiah 8. This morning we will see their desire for the book. Here is the flow of thought in this chapter: 8:1-8, Desiring the Book; 8:9-12, Rejoicing in the Book; 8:13-18, Obeying the Book.
