The Spirit Filled Worker

The Spirit filled worker responds :

1. Obediently (v. 5)

   • "obey" -- attend to immediately and sweetly.
   • regardless of character/behavior of boss (1 Peter 2:18-20)
   • Christian employers demand greater respect (1 Timothy 6:1-2)

2. According to Authority (v. 5b)

   • submit to any assignment as long as it is not unbiblical:
     • Acts 5:27-32
     • Daniel 3:14-18

3. Respectfully (v. 5c)

   • consider orders/assignments important

4. Sincerely (v. 5d)

   • Christlike actions
   • no duplicity, hypocrisy, manipulation

5. Representatively (v. 5e)

   • "in Christ" - we are ambassadors, witnesses of Jesus
   • reflect God's glory (Matthew 5:16)

6. Righteously (v. 6)

   • "not by way of eye service" = doesn't matter if boss is there or not
   • The Master in heaven is always watching

CONCLUSION: We can learn how to function in the workplace from Jesus, the perfect boss as well as the perfect servant.
