2Cor027 Reconciliation as Action

The Biblical doctrine of reconciliation affords rich comfort to the believer when it is understood correctly. Unfortunately, much popular teaching on reconciliation emphasizes only one aspect of it, that part which deals with setting aside hostility in the human heart towards God. But, the first and primary element of the Biblical doctrine of reconciliation is that God Himself is at enmity with man on account of man's sin and that God has taken action to remove that enmity by satisfying His wrath through the blood of the cross. This gracious work of God in satisfying His own wrath towards man through Christ is reconciliation as action.
