Immersed In Christ

To be a Christian is not merely to identify with Jesus Christ, it is to be united with Him. Imagine a sphere, with yourself at the center. You’re surrounded by all that is within the sphere. And all that is in the sphere permeates you. So it is to be in Christ. His perfect life, His death for sin, His resurrection. His immortality. They’re yours -- gifts of God’s grace, received by faith. “Since we have been united with Him in His death, we will also be raised to life as He was.” Romans 6:5 (NLT) Water baptism is a powerful illustration of our union with Christ. Consequently, our upcoming baptism service on Aug. 7 is a major highlight of our church year. It is a celebration of Christ’s work on our behalf. And a public testimony of new believers trusting in Christ’s redeeming love.
