Pray Persistently & Consistently

431

The wisdom to live wisely and godly requires a dedication to prayer. Jesus emphasized this by returning to the issue as He continued His discourse.

He gave three commands that are to be regularly practiced in praying. Ask, and keep on asking. Seek, and keep on seeking. Knock, and keep on knocking. He gave the promise of all prayers being answered as God gives what is good and right and best to each of His children. We don't always get what we want, when we want, but we are promised our prayers are always answered even when they seem delayed.

His teaching about how to pray emphasized the need to be persistent. We must first come to God for salvation, beginning life as a child of God asking, seeking, and knocking as the Spirit brings conviction on our hearts as sinners. That new life then continues with that same fervency and intensity and constancy in prayer.

To fail to pray as instructed is very serious for it not only means we forfeit the promises of answered prayers, but we are in active disobedience.
