Don't Be Nearsighted

The previous passage urged us to pursue Christian virtues because God has given us all we need for life and godliness and so we can escape the world's corruption. This section presents a positive reason for pursuing these virtues: we will be fruitful and effective in our service to Christ. But if we lack these virtues we are so shortsighted that we are blind, since we have forgotten our redemption from sin. We must not plateau or stagnate in our Christian lives - we must move forward in active pursuit of godliness.
