We are to love one another because love is of God, love reflects God, and love reveals God. God is love. The supremacy of this characteristic of God (not the sum totality of God) is reflected in Jesus Christ. God sent His Son that we might live. There simply is no other way to experience His love. God sent Jesus to be the propitiation for our sins.
