The Gospel of God

Having identified himself as being "set apart for the gospel of God" in v. 1, Paul then gives a brief review of what the gospel is. In v. 2 he reminds his readers that the gospel was "promised beforehand" by God in the Old Testament. In v. 3 Paul reminds us that Jesus was qualified to be the Messiah because He was "born a descendant of David according to the flesh." Finally, in v. 4 Paul tells us that Jesus proved Himself to be the Messiah by His "resurrection with power" from the dead.
