Man's Wisdom Is...

Man's wisdom is insufficient but the wisdom of God revealed in the gospel of Christ is the power of God unto salvation. Man is drawn to the wisdom of intellect, philosophy, higher education, and the ideologies of discipline thinking that if mankind attains and believes in these it will lift mankind to godhood or to a plain of higher humanism. Yet the word of God reveals that the wisdom of man is insufficient to save and that only through the preaching of the cross of Christ will man come unto the saving knowledge of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. The philosophers of the Corinthians were elevated in thinking but not in the true and enduring wisdom of God, and the gospel of Jesus in his death burial and resurrection was not steeped in the wisdom of the age of men. Yet Paul would proclaim a message that Christ ordained to save through the preaching of the cross. The preaching of the cross was foolishness to the Corinthian citizens but was the power of God to save a soul from the doom of hell and damnation. Even today this message of Christ saves as powerfully as ever it was intended, and that all who humble themselves, shall be saved.
