Knowing God

We started looking at Christ's prayer in John 17 two weeks ago with His petition for the Father to glorify Himself. This was so that He could return the Glory to God the Father. We saw that there were three reasons why the crucifixion would glorify God. First it was God's plan and He was living in accordance with the will of God. This glorifies God regardless of what it is. Secondly, It would provide a visual demonstration of the Love of God for Man and His hatred of sin. A testimony from God to the whole world. Lastly, the crucifixion would purchase salvation for those who God had chosen to save. It was a complete payment of the wages of our sin. Therefore, it shouldn't surprise us that Christ talks about Salvation in this part of His prayer. This is the Salvation experience from God, the real Salvation experience, so lets look at what He says.
