How to Deal with an Epic FAIL!

1,319

Imagine the embarrassment and the awful thoughts David must have had! Here he is the new king, and with all the pageantry they can muster for the biggest event in decades. It’s supposed to be the parade of God’s returning presence. God shows up, but it turns out to be one giant FAIL! How could David’s kingship and even the kingdom survive this epic of all epic mistakes?

2 Samuel 6 – look at David’s initial reactions and responses

Vs.8 – David was angry – attitude of frustration starts to develop

Vs.9 – David was afraid – attitude of fear starts to develop

Vs.10 – David was averse (a) and avoiding (b) – attitude of failure starts to develop

These initial reactions didn’t go away overnight; David stewed in his sin and had to mope in his mistake for over three months. These emotions and reactions he had are the same emotions and reactions that will keep us from learning from our mistakes. But we know this isn’t the end of this story. So how did David learn from his mistake? How did he deal with this epic FAIL? He worshipped his way out of the attitudes of frustration, fear, and failure, and he didn’t let his epic FAIL stop him from going after his godly goal once again.
