This is from an ordination charge (back 2014) to my younger brother Jeremy Holden at Richardson Baptist Church. Jeremy is the associate pastor and teaches on Sunday nights at Richardson and has a tremendous volume of teaching on the life of David on Sermon Audio. I encourage you to take the time and go glean some smooth stones of wisdom for the giants your facing in your life.

What You need to KNOW as a Messenger of the Lord of host:

Who you trust? (Who you are, whose you are, who you live and die for)

What you treasure? ( family, faith family)

Why you tell...? (for His glory or for your benefit and fame )

Where you tend? (learning to make everything about serving him ( at home and abroad.)

We're all at the mercy of those who feed us...

We must tie Ezra's missteps to Malachi's message.

They All Took God Lightly

God reminded the teachers, assigned to feed His people during the days of Ezra, Nehemiah and Malachi, that they had contaminated the food, corrupted the covenant and called God into question on the reliability of His ways and will.

They had turned the table around on what God says is good and right, encouraged the people in their crookedness and blessed them in their wrong. Instead of feeding them truth and turning them from their iniquity, they poisoned the feed. It was totally opposite of what any legitimate farmer or servant of God would do.

So... God warns them and then reminds them of their calling.
