Walking with God

God revealed that man would surely die if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2.17). The serpent told Eve, 'You will not surely die' (Genesis 3.4). Genesis 5 records the results with the slow, funeral-like cadence of the refrain, 'And he died' (eight times). However, there was one exception. Enoch believed God (Hebrews 11.5-6), befriended God, and loved God. He did not die but was translated to Heaven. His life speaks of hope in God's mercy.
