Nighttime Conversions
Series Series in Acts
Aim: To rejoice as liberated children of God in Christ (the Light of the World).
Doctrine: Believers are converted in the night times of deep spiritual darkness. Even as we are chained to sin and death, Jesus comes and rescues His church.
Exegesis: The miraculous factors that go into nighttime conversions: deliberate, counterintuitive praise of God (vv. 25-28); clear and simple gospel proclamation (vv. 29-32); cleansed and joyful new lives that bear fruit (vv. 33-34).
Further application: How the truth of nighttime conversions encourages us in the church today: though hell and darkness is our fallen lot, they cannot stand before the Christ who liberates His people.
Key verses: vv. 30-31 ''Then [the jailer] brought [Paul and Silas] out and said, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' And they said, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.'''
