John the Baptist

25

In John chapter 1 we are introduced to a man that was sent from God who is known as John the Baptist.

John was the Witness from the Wilderness.

The last Prophet of the Old Testament spoke about John as well. Mal 3:1

Between the books of Malachi and Matthew you have what is called the 400 Silent Years.

For four Hundred years there was no prophets of God who spoke to the nation of Israel.

John the Baptist was a man of courage and conviction, he was not like a reed in the wind that would bend whichever way the wind blew.

John didn’t fall in with the ways of the world in his day. John was a man that was immoveable in his convictions.

John was born to Godly parents. His Father was a Temple priest and his mother was the cousin of Mary the mother of Jesus.

As an adult John lived in the Wilderness eating locusts and wild honey.

In the wilderness he would have spent time with God, worshipping the Lord and being developed by God for his ministry.

John faced both the religious leaders and John was not afraid to face the political figures of his day about their own immorality.

John spoke to Herod Antiphas, the son of Herod the Great about his sexual immorality and consequently lost his life.

John was the voice for God in his day and we are the voice for God in our day.
