Seasonal Christianity

Now the Lord Jesus has word of comment on the nations response to John's burning and shining light. He says, “You were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.”

The words sound innocent enough but they bite with an air of criticism. Be careful to heed these words of the Lord. Mark them in your Bible's and write in the margin. “Lord may it never be said of me…that I was for a season willing to rejoice in light.”

Let Jesus words remind you that…
I. Some kinds of faith – or spiritual enthusiasm – are temporary.
II. Some kinds of faith – or spiritual enthusiasm – are passing fads of the population.

Churches and Pastor's should be careful not to point to the crowds surrounding any persons ministry as a sign of their success. The numbers don't always add up. They are often just seasonal events.

Let us consider how this happens and what to avoid so that you don't become a seasonal christian with a faddish faith.
