Daniel 5 When the Party is Over

Australia is nearing one of the most important elections in the history of our country. This week Australia decides on a new government. Currently our nation is plagued by idolatry and materialism and unless we return to the Lord we may lose the freedoms that we have.

In Daniel 5 we meet a King who’s name was Belshazzar who holds a great party that ended in the loss of his kingdom and even death.

He lived in the great city of Babylon a city that had been built up by King Nebuchadnezzar.

On the night that Belshazzar held his feast General Cyrus and his army were able to walk into the Euphrates river because they had diverted the stream and were able to invade the city through the riverbed.

They walked under the gates while the drunken party was going on, the King, his subjects and his soldiers were drunk and they were not aware of the invasion until the Medes entered the city. They then killed the King.

The writing was on the wall and the party was over.

The writing is on the wall for any nation that forgets God.
