The Subtlety of the Serpent

Satan was, and he is, to this very day, a great deceiver. Now, the question we want to ask this morning is this: How did Satan succeed in deceiving Eve and thus bring about the Fall of Man? The answer that I lay before you is that he succeeded by using the following 3 strategies: 1st of all – He questioned God’s Word to them. (Verses 1-3) 2nd – He boldly lied to Eve. (Verse 4) And 3rd – He misrepresented to Eve the truth of the consequences of sinning against God’s Word. (Verses 5-7) Let us think of these strategies as being the same strategies which he will use with us when he comes to tempt us.
