Being Urgent About Losing God

If you have to deny God to keep breathing, then it is better to die. Why is this sense of urgency gone. Why would people in a burning building care so little about being burnt alive? And the coming judgment of God is far more extreme. Why would we not take action? One reason is comparing ourselves with other people and then feeling better about our own sin. Maybe we think that if we just avoid the issue, it will all go away. The graphic examples of those who were killed under the tower of Siloam, and those whose blood Pilate had mixed with the blood of his sacrifices, are an indicator of what awaits every living soul. We come out of the womb taking selfies, comparing ourselves to others, justifying ourselves. Judgment day is dreadful. The earth and the sky will flee from the presence of God. Just because you have forgotten about so many sins, doesn't mean God has forgotten. Nothing matters more than your repentance right now. Repentance is not the gospel. The gospel is news about what God has done in order to rescue you. Repentance is about how you must respond to the gospel. If you have "repented" but have not changed, you have to return and repent of your "repentance". Repentance is just a word if your sin doesn't bother you. You are abusing God's kindness. Have you reached the point where losing God forever would be the greatest calamity that could come upon you?
