Motives for Christ's Service

The faithfulness of John the Baptist to his calling to prepare the way for Christ meant that he would encourage his followers to go after Jesus of Nazareth. John was very happy at such a prospect. But when his followers began to follow the Lord Jesus, He asked them about their real motives. What were they seeking? It is that question that reminds us that there are a whole series of false reasons for people to maintain their associations with Christ, but there is only one basis on which people can follow the Savior. Only those who believe on Christ in truth can really be His disciples.
