Mercy in Judgment

The people chose a king to farm out the responsibility of personally and corporately trusting the Lord. They were content to trust a human king rather than the sovereign LORD. And while God still gives them tokens of grace and promises of mercy, the people would find their experience with God would be complicated. Ours is to seek simplicity in our relationship with Him through a healthy fear of forfeiting His best in our day to day.
