Stephen, the First Martyr
Series Ind. Fund. Bible Conf. (Acts)
1,077
The longest sermon in the book of Acts came, not from Paul, but from Stephen — though Paul heard it (still as an unbeliever) and must have memorized every word of it for its later recording by Luke. "Stephen's sermon was not in vain, at least for that hearer," says Dr. Whitcomb. He shares how Stephen pointed out the shortcomings in the Jewish understanding of the Abrahamic Covenant, and how Israel rejected a God-sent leader once again. "The depth of human depravity is beyond comprehension."
