More Than We Ask or Imagine

Up to this point in Ephesians, Paul has opened up the mystery of the church and its huge calling in the purpose of God. No wonder he humbly but confidently asks the Father to strengthen believers inwardly with power through His Spirit. Without such empowering the revelation of God's plan to make the church the showcase of His unifying love in the midst of this broken world and its sad history would seem meaningless.
We need such power to know by faith the permanent residence of Christ in their hearts, to be established and stabilized in love, to grasp the vast dimensions of the love of Christ and finally, to be filled with the very fullness of God. A church so empowered would not fail to display God's glory in whatever generation it finds itself in! This is no small prayer, but not too big for a God 'who is able to do immeasurably more than all that we ask or imagine.
