Inclusive Psalm Singing, Part 2

63

Pastor Slate continues in this second of three sermons to explore the rich spiritual blessings of inclusive psalm singing. In particular, psalm singing is a rich practice as it demonstrates the blood bought unity of God's people through the millenia. When we sing the psalms we are singing holy songs that the people of the Lord would recognize for the past 3,000 years. We join our voices to theirs in exalting the Lord Christ. It is also significant that we heirs of the New Covenant are commanded to sing from the hymnbook of the Old Covenant. Christ has removed the middle wall of division that separates Jew from Gentile, making one new man out of the two. Every time we sing the psalms we are implicitly declaring that there is only one people of God, and Christ has only one bride to whom He is ever faithful.
