The Unique Creation of Man

The higher critics point to the change in language and tone in Genesis 2 as evidence of a different editor or compiler. But the reality is that the language signals a treatment in greater depth of the crowning act of creation. The emphasis is that God created the man in a different manner than used to make any other creature, and God established a different relationship between himself and the man (a covenant relationship) than He established between Himself and any other creature. The correspondence between the first Adam and the second Adam (the Lord Jesus Christ) requires that the first Adam have been created in a maner totally distinct from that employed for any other creature.
