Worship with Wonder

101

This message was given by Pastor Jonathan Stobbs as he continued his morning ministry in the book of Nehemiah. In the midst of this awakening and revival in the time of Nehemiah, the people had an awesome sense of the presence of God, they were aware of His greatness. In this current day and age, many churches have lost that sense of the greatness of God, and this is represented in all manner of things, including worship and how we approach worship. Pastor Stobbs outlines the reasons as set forth in these verses as to why the God of heaven is a great God, great, mighty, and awesome! As he states during this message, 'When there is a great movement of God, there is an understanding of His greatness, and this has a great bearing on the soul of the Lord's people and beyond. There is an awareness of His awesomeness and this fuels worship that is in wonder and reverence. A focus that draws too much away from this, whether it be just on what He has done for us, or what we want Him to do, will lead us down the path of selfishness. We must worship Him in wonder because of who He is, and His greatness. True worship will honour God irrespective of our circumstances or feelings, because it will have Him at the very epicentre of what we do. In this passage we have seen another outworking of this great movement of God, that being that the people have an increased awareness of the greatness of God, how we should pray for such an awareness!'
