As a result of the fall and the entrance of sin into the world, every form of human relationship was distorted, and that includes marriage and the family. In the case of husbands and wives, enmity was established. A power struggle to see who would rule. Paul is telling us here in Colossians 3 that we are to be done with this and return to Eden in our marriages.
