James #6: The Fish Hook of Temptation

The word "entice" means "to bait". James uses the metaphor of fishing to describe temptation. Though God does not tempt any man, being wholly pure and not inclined towards evil, he does lead us into trials. And in the midst of trials, there is almost always temptation. The question becomes: will we take the hook? Will we follow the lusts of our own heart, and swallow the hook that Satan, the world or our own flesh has dangled before our eyes?
