Conclusion of the Greek word sotaria. Without question salvation is of God. When regeneration, payment for sin, justification, glorification, etc. are under consideration, it is by God alone without the instrumentally of man in any way. However, when spiritual life is received in the conscious of man in regeneration, faith (as with as all the graces of God) is nurtured by God's word (usually by the gospel) and manifested by the power of God. God commands us to contend for the faith (Jude 3).He expects us to do so even though we live in a society that rejects absolutes and assumes that there are no abiding truths or fixed standards. We are to “earnestly contend” for all truth. We are to agonize for the truth as much, if not more so, as the atheletes do to win the contest.
