Ask Your Husband At Home

It appears straight forward when Paul says that women should not ask questions in the worship service--he was protecting the authority structure in the church. What is not so clear is why he then said women should ask their OWN husbands at HOME. The reason Paul said this was because he knew that any reformation, whether in the church or the state, begins with a reformation of God's authority structures in the home. Thus, all he was doing was pointing the husband and wife back to this principle and saying that for the Corinthian church to sort out their church problems, they needed to sort out the authority structures in their homes. Paul upheld the fact that the home is central when it comes to discipleship and he clearly lays the responsibility upon the husband and father to disciple both his children and wife. Conforming ourselves to God's authority structure for the family is the starting place for exalting God's authority structures in every area of life. If we do not get it right in the family, every other authority structure in life will be corrupted.
