Living in the Spirit of Prayer
Series Holy Spirit Series
The “spirit” of prayer is distinguished from the "form," or the "content," or the "place" of prayer—all of which may be done in hypocrisy.
The spirit of prayer is the first conscious experience of non-condemnation. Paul told the believers in Rome that they would know that they were no longer under condemnation because they had been given the “Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father” (Romans 8:1, 15)
The Spirit of Prayer answers the first and greatest law of God (Luke 10:27). The spirit of Prayer is a humble and believing devotion to the will and word of God. It is a continual casting of cares on the Lord, responding to life as it relates to God’s will.
The spirit of prayer answers the biblical command to Pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). It is living preoccupied with recourse to God. It is the disposition of mind and heart that enables one to interact with and continue life on earth while living above the world.
