The Triumphal Entry of the Servant King

16 ( 14 | 2 )

Instead of the warrior king they wanted, they got a Servant King who came to lay His life down for His enemies.
While we were yet His enemies, He died for us.
Instead of coming into Jerusalem as the majestic Sovereign King on display in all His glory,Jesus came to suffer the reproach and rejection of His enemies so that He could secure terms of peace between them and God, between us and God. He came to be accursed so that you and I might be accepted.
He began His trip to Jerusalem in Luke 9:51 and we see Him enter there until Luke 19:28
All this was done to fulfill Scripture.
Because it was the Sovereign plan and purpose of God that the Messiah would come and enter Jerusalem.
Isaiah 62:11 Behold, the LORD hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. Zechariah 9:9 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass. Jesus was predestined by the Sovereign Will, Purpose and decree to offend the people. He offended their sensibilities and their demands of the majesty and royalty of their leaders, their Sovereigns.
Imagine Queen Elizabeth without her royal garb, the Princes without the glitz and glamour. Imagine royalty without any showmanship. It's revolting and disgusting to think of the kings and princess in paupers clothing. Imagine the royal processional coming in without the nobility of finely manicured stallions upon chariots of buffed gold and bronze and beauty.
Jesus didn't come that way.
