Thankful Church Membership

Authority and the use of it in this new gathering of people who have trusted in Jesus for their soul's wellbeing looks different than other human societies. Because of this difference Paul, Silas, and Timothy address how the Thessalonians must treat those who are called by Jesus Christ to the work and labor of the ministry of the gospel and the oversight of the congregation. Their "abounding more and more in a life that pleases God" depends very much on how they receive and respond to the leaders of the church. This sermon calls us to follow our Savior by cheerful obedience to the authority of God in the local church.
