Casey Sees the Beauty of the Cross

121

Tony stood at the corner of Kimberly and Marquette, in Davenport (IA), carrying his "Stop and Talk" cross. Coming from behind, him he heard the honk of a horn. He turned and saw a young man waving to him from the rolled down driver's window of his car.

Tony walked to the car and met Casey (25). As a boy, Casey was an involuntary attender of the Roman Catholic Church. He stopped attending as soon as he was old enough to refuse. Over the years, Casey developed an eclectic set of spiritual beliefs--all of them built on a foundation of sand.

Tony gently dismantled Casey's worldview with basic presuppositional apologetics. But what stopped Casey's mouth was the proclamation of the law and the gospel. By the end of the conversation, Casey saw the beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
