Out with the Old - In with the New
Series Messages from Luke
40
When Jesus and his disciples ate with Levi and his friends, the Pharisees grumbled. No self-respecting, law-abiding Jew should have table fellowship with “sinners.” It’s unseemly. It sends all the wrong message. What the Pharisees failed to grasp was that they needed what Jesus had to offer as must as those they rejected. For “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We, however, understand (or should understand) that we are no more deserving of grace than the person next to us, no matter how off-putting they are. If we are to be faithful disciples who make disciples, we’ll press through our prejudices and make the Great Physician known.
