Woe unto you, Scribes, Pharisees and Hypocrites!

Our Lord pronounces a stern judgment against the Jewish scribes, Pharisees and hypocrites as well as all like persons today. He said, "they say and do not." This is an acid test of true Christianity. We also see that just because one is religious does not deliver them from the "damnation of Hell." (Matt.23:33)
In this chapter we see the Thoroughness of Christ's judgment, its justness and its Consequences: Israel is scattered among the nations and her house is left to her "desolute."(23:38)
The saints of God today have a better house of worship, the church of Jesus Christ which will stand forever.
