The Sacrifice of Motherhood

It is not enough for a mother to deny herself, but she must deny everything that impedes here affections for her Savior. Jesus said, "If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple" (Luke 14.26). The most wonderful relationship of a mother to a child or a child to a mother is certainly precious and should not be given up without a fight. But if our relationship with our children or the relationship we have with our mother moves us to sin or to neglect our relationship with Christ, then Christ must win over our affections every time. He can do that the hard way if need be.
