Does The Bible Really Say That?!
Series Series in Romans (2012-2013)
30
Aim: To humbly bow (with thanksgiving) to our sovereign God.
Exegesis: You mean our salvation depends entirely on God's mercy, and not on our own efforts (vv. 14-16) or pride (vv. 17-18)?! You mean our salvation depends entirely on God's will?! This means we have to acknowledge His divinity (vv. 19-20) and sovereignty (v. 21)! You mean our salvation depends entirely on God's glory?! This explains the ''problem'' of evil (v. 22) and the greatness of grace (vv. 23-24).
Key verses: vv. 19-20 ''You will say to me then, 'Why does He still find fault? For who has resisted His will?' But indeed, O man, who are you to reply against God? Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, 'Why have you made me like this?'''
