Preparing Yourself to Die

Main Text: 2 Kings 20:1-5. I. Death's Approach (v. 1). Known by sickness and prophecy. We may be forewarned of death by sickness, or not, but we know for sure that eventually we shall die (except Christ return first). II. Divine Call to Prepare (v. 1b). "Set thine house in order" is good counsel for us all. III. Specific Preparations (vv. 1b-5). A. Household affairs (v. 1b). Our family members and business. B. Genuine conversion (2 Kings 18:5-6). C. Prayerful dependence (v. 2). Earnest, private prayer. D. Spiritual integrity (v. 3a). Consistent "coram Deo" (always conscious of God) lifestyle, wholehearted devotion. keeping God's commandments. E. Sober realism (v. 3b). He believed Isaiah and mourned. F. Grateful worship (vv. 4-5). Give thanks for healing.
