Make Much of the Blood of Christ

You can't have Christianity without the blood of Jesus. From the first sacrifice in the Garden that clothed Adam and Eve to the blameless lamb sacrificed time and time again in the Old Covenant, God has always required blood. These Old Covenant shadows only typified the ultimate sacrifice of Christ and His blood for us displaying the great mercy of God that He would nail His son to the Cross. The Hebrews were tempted to walk away from this and return to the old covenant sacrifices; the shadow of the reality.
His Blood is effectual in saving us and changing us. This is our hope, that now when God looks at us He sees us baptized, sprinkled, washed, cleansed, in the blood of His only Son. We cannot add to that. We can do nothing to make God love us more. Lent is a slap in the face of our God if we think it does anything to make God love us more or make ourselves more worthy of His love. We must make much of the Blood of our Redeeming Mediator King that has poured himself out in order to appease a Just God and in the process fulfilling the Law of His Father.
