Faith WORKS At The Cross

380

In this message - the 4th in our current series - we trace another action that true faith performs at the cross:

Faith WORKS At The Cross.

At the cross faith is furnished with:

(a) MOTIVES TO WORK.

All great lives have been lived due to the motivation of some master principle.

With the young Prince of Macedon (who became Alexander the Great), it was the total absorption of his mind in the desire for victory that propelled him forwards.

And when, in the case of Paul (and all the other distinguished men and women of God), this desire is transported onto a holier sphere, the same principle holds true (2 Corinthians 5:14):

The love of Christ doth me constrain
To seek the wandering souls of men;
With cries, entreaties, tears, to save,
To snatch them from the fiery wave.

We are prompted to labour by the love of the Lord Jesus!

(b) THE MANNER FOR WORK.

How are we to work for Christ among the lost? By using His methods! We catch a glimpse of these methods at the cross itself; (i) Compassion, and (ii) Concern (cf. John 19:26&27; Luke 23:34).

(c) MIGHT IN WORK.

Victory over Satan and sin is always achieved by virtue of:

  1. The Blood
and 2. The Book - the Word of God!

This dual power we receive at the cross.

(d) MONARCHY THROUGH WORK.

Our work for the Master is not in vain. Our struggle with temptations and trials is not fruitless.

We shall be rewarded: down here, certainly – but up there, especially! We shall reign with Him!
